2019 Easter Events

A child's holiday anticipation may be just enough energy to power the Hoover Dam. For parents, juggling planning family get togethers, dinners, events, and prepping those Easter baskets can be a bit more stressful. This year Easter falls on Sunday, April 21st 2019.

We've listed several events happening around Volusia County over Easter weekend to help make the most of your holiday, and to burn off some of that excited energy.  Grab the kids and the baskets and hop on over to one of these fun filled events!

1. Children's Easter Egg Hunt Party

Davies Lighthpouse Park in Ponce Inlet is having their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20th. This event begins at 10 AM sharp, guests are recommended to arrive at least by 9:45 AM. There will be a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny and a petting zoo at the event. Parents, please bring a basket for your child as they won't be provided. 

The park is open from sunrise to sunset and admission to the park and event are free. The park also features pavillions, picnic tables and a playground, as well as lighthouse tours. Bring the kids out for an hour or two, or make it a day trip and explore all the family friendly things to do in Ponce Inlet.

2. 52nd Annual Easter Beach Run

52nd Annual Easter Beach Run

Daytona Beach is hosting the 52nd annual Easter beach run. This is the oldest consecutive race in the state of Florida, originating in 1967 to provide an activity for visiting college students on Easter weekend. The race will be held on Saturday, April 20th starting at 2 PM.

Multiple races are scheduled such as the 4 mile, 2 mile, kid's race and health walk, and prizes are awarded to first place winners and the first 1,000 people to register and completed the races. Registration can be done ahead of time on their website or on race day at the event. 

Participants can head over to title sponsor, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Co. for their world-renown shrimp and grits after the races. Sponsors and vendors will also have tons of treats and information to share throughout the event.

3. Spring Eggstravaganza

Spring Eggstravaganza

Florida Technical College in DeLand is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 13th. This event takes place from 10 AM through 2 PM. Kids will be able to join in on the egg hunt, take a picture with the Easter Bunny, and enter in a raffle to win a fully loaded Easter basket.

Parents please bring a basket for your child to use for the hunt. Admission to this event is free of charge. Mix 105.1 will be providing free live music for the event and program presentations, vendor setups and much more will be included.

4. Lake Helen Community Spring Festival

Lake Helen Community Spring Festival

Bring the family out to Lake Helen on Saturday, April 20th, for a day filled with fun activities. The city of Lake Helen has put together an invent combining local organizations, schools, daycares, churches, and more to showcase their services and upcoming events. This event starts at 10 AM and goes through 2 PM.

The kids are guaranteed to have a great time participating in the Easter egg hunt, meeting the Easter bunny, pony rides, face painting, bounce houses, carnival games, arts and crafts, and the pirates and mermaids invasion.

Parents they've got some treats for you as well! Food trucks and market vendors will be present as well as a DJ for live music. Enter your kids in the basket raffle and grab some grub while you're here. Admission is free for this event, however, individual vendors may have a charge for their services.

5. Sense-Ational Egg Hunt

Sense-Ational Egg Hunt

Calvary Christian Center is kicking off their annual Sense-Ational Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 13th. The event is planned from 10 AM through 12 PM. This egg hunt is specially created in mind for special needs families that want to particpate in holiday fun.

Children with behavioral, physical, or developmental challenges are urged to join in on the festivities to collect uniquely designed Easter eggs. Calvary's team of volunteers are trained are experienced in helping families enjoy this event. Parents please bring a basket for the hunt.

6. Helicopter Egg Drop

Calvary Christian Center is hosting a second Easter Egg Hunt this year on Saturday, April 20th. This exciting annual hunt features over 50,000 eggs being dropped onto the stadium field by a helicopter! There are two hunt times, 10 AM and 11 AM. Because of the popularity of this event, space may be limited, registration opens at 9 AM at the venue so please get there early!

After the egg hunt, let the kids play in the bounce houses, join in family games, get some grub from local food vendors, and get creative with the arts and crafts. This event is fun for the whole family. Parents, please bring baskets for the kids as they are not provided. You haven't done Easter right until you've seen eggs dropped from a helicopter!

7. Crossroads Easter Carnival & Egg Drop

Crossroads Easter Carnival

Crossroads Ministries is hosting their annual Easter celebration on Saturday, April 20th, from 10 AM through 12 PM. This event is free for everyone and the hunts are geared for children up to 12 years old. 0-3 year olds will be provided a sand pit to search for eggs through. Children 3-12 will be divided into 3 different age brackets to search for the eggs dropped from a helicopter onto the field.

The over 12,000 eggs being dropped are filled with candy, stickers, and prizes for the kiddos to enjoy. Parents, please bring baskets as they are not provided. After the hunt, enjoy the carnival games, face painting, bounce houses and popcorn!

Easter Trunks

The Daytona Beach Drive In Christian Chruch is hosting their annual Trunks & Baskets on Saturday, April 13th, from 10 AM through 12 PM. This free event is a trunk or treat style setup with volunteer trunks filled with candy or prizes.

Children in 5th grade and under are welcome to participate. All you need to bring is a basket to collect the treats in. The church will also be providing games and activities for the kids to enjoy. Please contact the church for additional information and to find out about becoming a volunteer for the event.

9. New Smyrna Beach Easter Celebration

The City of New Smyrna Beach is kicking off their annual Easter Celebration on Saturday, April 20th. This event is jam packed with enough games, activities, and local vendors to make it last the whole day. Event includes:

The Easter Egg Hunt is divided into differeny age brackets to make it the most fair and enjoyable hunt for kids of all ages. Parents please bring a basket as they are not provided.

10. Edgefest Easter Eggstravaganza

Edgefest Easter Eggstravaganza

The City of Edgewater is hosting their annual Easter celebration at Hawks Park on Saturday, April 13th. The event goes on from 10 AM through 12 PM. Kids 12 and under are encouraged to join in on the Easter fun in this free event.

The Easter egg hunts will be divided into four separate fields by age brackets for fair fun. Thousands of eggs will be hidden filled with candy and prizes. Parents, please bring a basket as they are not provided. The hunts will be followed by games and activities for the whole family.
